Descriptions

Computer Music (2007): This wasn't meant to become an album at all, ironically I was trying to get away from albums & "concepts". In January I did a track called 'krunk' - I have loved the glitch/C64 sound for years and this was my take-on of that sound, although it kinda came out more like a weird alien experiment! I used a C64 Reason refill I found on the propellerheads website for lots of the noises in 'krunk', and then did 'computer forces' (a remix of my 06 track 'the dark forces of spang') and used the same refill for some of the noises in that track. I then got the bug (+ quickly threw out a few more trax) until I started working on 'bugz in my hard drive', I suddenly hit a block + it took what seemed forever to finish (+ the elongated production period probably accounts for the 4 changes in the track!). Although I love this album it was no joy to make + was a real stop-start affair.

ADarkerPlace (2007): The plan with this album was to kinda do the opposite to 'E2C' and go EPIC ... do trax of 10 minutes plus, but work on some of the ambient themes + expand them more. So, it's got 7 trax ... and ok only 3 of them are 10 mins+, but I feel I have fulfilled my mission + also produced my best works to date. I again wanted the trax to flow into one another, so it works as a mix. I guess sonically this sits somewhere inbetween 'TeeTHinG' and 'E2C' and also drags in ideas from my other recent tunes. It also takes the 'noise' thing evident in ‘Phoncompmintsnoiserah’ a bit further to with the intro & outro trax.

Croydon Library Project (2006): For my 2003 album 'Amalgamation' I came up with the track ‘Croydon Library’. I always felt that there was more mileage in the concept, so I worked on a remix with LFP (a kinda pumpin techno blast). It still didn’t feel like that was it, so I opened up the project to anyone (or at least peeps on Electromancer.com anyway). So, over the course of 2004 & early 2005 15 more versions (including 2 more by me!) were born from artist’s such as projectseven, AuXin, liquidscreamer, Global Conspiracy, mistrust, etc. I always said I would, but it was only in late 2006 that I actually compiled ALL 17 versions onto 1 CD … at some point I will also upload them all to archive.org (although don’t bet on that being soon – RAH!).

Escape to Canada (2006): This album is dedicated to my mate Stephen Daley whom is emigrating to Canada. After completing ‘Almost Nothing’ I felt it could go further. The 1st test was to see if a weird noise track I’d done called ‘Phoncompmintsnoiserah’ (featuring chat from my good friend Ste cheekily recorded on my dictaphone!) could link from the last track of ‘Almost Nothing’ (I had to up the bpm from 80 to 100) … it worked, so I set about creating more trax. I continued with the ambient + beats n’ pieces vibe for another 8 tunes, but then had a crisis in confidence in the whole project as I didn’t feel the title had any context. I solved this by asking a chappy (Mike McCarthy aka theory of one) to record me a song, which I remixed to create the title track for the album. This set of 19 trax represents my most interesting, cohesive and experimental work to date.

Almost Nothing (2006): Influenced BIG stylee by a lot of the weirder + more abstract music I have been listening to over the past 12 months, most of which has been trax downloaded from audioshots.com. I also wanted to do something that was shorter & more ambient based than my usual beats stuff. So, I came up with this 8 track experiment. When I did this I think the demons had been erased!

Fighting With My Demons - Conventional vs Experimental (2006): Bar 3 of em, this 16 track compilation is made up of tunes I did over the space of 2 months after completing 'TeeTHinG'. This project was an antidote to the hate I had for making music at this time. The title comes from the fact that (at the time) I was trying to mess around a bit more + explore, but there was always this niggling voice in my head saying that I needed to make trax appeal to other people.

TeeTHinG (2006): The 5 trax from my ‘DEVOID EP’ + 5 more. Originally I had intended ‘DEVOID’ to be an album, then in July ’05 after 5 trax I kinda ran out of steam. After doing a few other things I came up with ‘DEVIATE’ and the album project kinda took off again. The 2nd 5 trax are a bit more experimental than the 1st, I took a few more risks I think. The whole album has a v dark vibe … a lot of emotion went into it, fuelled by my son’s pain & my lack of sleep. Although it does end in a kinda positive manner, with the final track ‘TeeTHinG’ (an epic 13 min blast) … albeit the final 5 mins anyway!

LiquidFudge (2006): liquidscreamer (martin carradus) + Fudgedubnofunk. After taking nigh on 6 months to come up with our first track 'urchin', 2006 was kinda MAD cuz we came up with 8 new trax of various guises & styles. In this meeting of minds Martin is the MUSIC man and I am the BEATS + FX bod. RAH!

Mixedbagsoftunesoldnewnremixestoo (2006): A compilation of odds n’ sods … a ‘B-sides’ album I guess. Features some old+new tunes by me, some remixes of ‘66’ & ‘Green Sheep’ by DJ Unfriendly (aka grouchyman) and a number of new trax featuring my vox by a geezer called Shaun at CCT Records.

DEVOID EP (2005): Ever since he was 6 months old my son has suffered v v badly with his teething. At the beginning of ’05 I decided to utilise my time spent sitting on the sofa at night settling him down by doing some music. Between Jan & July 5 brand new Fudgedubnofunk tunes were produced. These trax came with a darker & more sinister edge. What I also wanted to do with these trax was to get them to flow, almost like a mix album. Another remit was to get various peeps to remix these new tunes … projectseven, liquidscreamer, Acolmiztli, Elek-trik & totalcult all obliged + came up with some superb new take-ons of my tunes.

Greatest Twists 1999-2004 (2005): 'Inner Darker Self' was only completed in 6 months because after my son Jacob was born in August 2003 he & my wife slept a lot! Once he hit about 6 months old he no longer needed to sleep all the time, so I no longer really had any time to do music. During the whole of 2004 I only produced 4 trax (one of which was a collaboration with liquidscreamer), which is partly the reason for putting 'Greatest Twists' together.

Inner Darker Self (2004): After spending 4 or so years just churning out tune after tune after tune in quick succession, I finally hit a point where I actually started spending a decent amount of time on each track. I think with this album I finally found my identity and started to make music that other people liked/appreciated as well as me!

Stabiliser EP (2003): After producing 6 trax at the beginning of 2003 (in a similar way to the trax on 'Amalgamation') I felt that the way I was producing music was again becoming limiting, so I purchased a copy of Reason ... the learning curve began again, but this time it wasn't as steep as when I bought ReBirth. This EP also features the 1st 2 trax I did mixing up sounds created in Reason & ReBirth and sequenced in ACID (now upgraded to the full blown Pro v4.0).

Amalgamation (2003): Creating trax solely in ReBirth was doing me 'ead in, so I went back to using ACID. This time though I combined the use of sample CDs with sounds/beats created in ReBirth. This album also featured more vocal oriented trax. The initial focus for creating trax for this album was to keep every track short at around 4 minutes or less. I stuck pretty much to this ideal, bar the epic 'iNtEnSiTy' which at 8:16 blew things up a bit! I still enjoy listening to this album.

Hyperhead (2002): My 3rd and final album containing ReBirth only created tunes. I actually still quite like this album, or at least some of the trax. The barnstorming techno-trance stomper 'Self Evident Truth' that opens this album is still one of my personal faves.

Anti-Cohesion Shock (2002): This was the 1st CD I gave away through Electromancer. It was basically a compilation of tunes from my ReBirth albums & EPs. Not many people digged the music, and looking back I can see why! I think this is the only CD I don't still have a copy of ... although I don't think I'm that bothered to tell ya the truth!!

Hip Hop EP (2002): The 3rd and final 20 minute EP. Musically it didn't sound like hip-hop at all! The title was a reference to the ReBirth mod ('Funkbox') I used to create all the trax. I sent this EP to a website who uploaded the trax and took the EP title literally (without listening to the music I guess), putting them all in the Hip-Hop section ... duh! The techno-breaks sound of this EP now sounds v dated & boring.

Orbit EP (2002): The 2nd 20 minute EP. This time the vibe was much more on an experimental techno tip. At this point I was knocking out tunes in a couple of hours, so really the quality wasn't that great. I do still like the track 'Voldemort' though.

Red EP (2001): All trax produced in ReBirth using the 'Redstripe' mod. This EP was the 1st part of a project to use up a bunch of mini 20 minute CD-Rs I had. With these trax I started experimenting a bit more with beats, with dnb & breakbeat in mind.

Give Peace a Chance EP (2001): Four trax culled from the album of the same name and released through peoplesound.com. These were probably the 4 best trax from the album + they flowed kinda nicely too. 2 copies sold ... 1 bought by me, the other by my wife!

Give Peace a Chance (2001): A BIG improvement on 'Just Messin', but still not that great. All tunes were made using the ReBirth mod 'AXIOM Peace', which was created by Peff. Track 'Axiom' was easily my best yet + 'Mission AX' wasn't too bad either.

Just Messin' (2001): I was getting fed up with using ready made sounds, so I bought ReBirth ... with this album I was learning how to do things again, so musically I took a few steps back. Overall this bunch of tunes is v v BORING techno.

Part of the Process (2000): All trax again created with ACID + sample CDs, but this time the vibe was more dance/techno oriented. Album is based around 5 overblown epics, some of which featured my first attempts at vocals. 'Nail Armstrong' & 'Part of the Process' still sound GOOD. Also includes a 13 minute remix of the Hybrid track 'I Know', which is a complete MESS!

Snapshot EP (2000): I bought a new soundcard, which included a copy of Sonic Foundry's ACID + some groovy dnb samples. Still sounds ok today, although the 4 trax are probably a little too overblown/long. This has always been (+ probably still is) one of my weaknesses.

The Fire and the Starter ... Part 2 (1999): Made in the same way as 'Part 1' ... a slight improvement, but quite PAINFUL to listen to now. Struggle to think of a track that is ok! The final track 'Black Ice' is 14 minutes of absolute MESS + is something that is just too painful to listen to anymore!!

The Fire and the Starter ... Part 1 (1999): The beginning ... a sequencer program, a keyboard & a bunch of sample CDs. Bar the track 'Twilight' it now sounds absolutely TERRIBLE!
